ATTENTION RESIDENTS: The Borough of McKees Rocks has Vacancies on the following Boards: Planning Commission (3 seats), Civil Service Board (2 seats), and the Zoning Hearing Board (1 seat).

We are currently accepting Letters of Interest until Monday, January 12, 2026 by 12:00 PM. If you are interested in filling any of the vacancies above, please send in a Letter of Interest describing your qualifications and background. Council will review all letters at an upcoming public council meeting and vote for the appointment(s) of new board members. All interested applicants must be a resident of the Borough of McKees Rocks.

 

Below is a brief description of the responsibilities of each Board:

Planning Commission: Acts as an advisor to governing body, responsible for review of all land development plans submitted to the municipality for long-term growth, development and well-being of the municipality

Zoning Hearing Board: Judicial body that hears and renders decisions regarding specific types of land use actions, operating under the PA Municipalities Planning Code and is responsible for adjudicating appeals related to zoning ordinances, variances, and special exceptions.

Civil Service Board: Responsible for providing oversight of the examination of applicants for appointment and promotion in the police department, preparing eligibility lists, and hearing any appeals regarding suspensions, dismissals or reductions in rank.
