While there are many ordinances, there are a few that every homeowner, and/or individual renting a house, should be aware of.
The following is by no means a complete list of ordinances that may apply to you, but only a list of the most commonly violated and/or important ones. As always, if you have a question about whether you are allowed to do something, call the Borough and ask.
Grass Height: 6 Inches. The yard must be maintained throughout to include all sidewalks, curbs, side yards, and rear to the road.
Fences: Fences shall not exceed Four (4) feet in height in the front and side yards of the property and a maximum of Six (6) feet in height in the rear of the property.
Sanitation: All exterior property and premises shall be maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition.
Sidewalks and driveways: All sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking spaces, and similar areas shall be kept in a proper state of repair and maintained free of hazardous conditions.
Accessory Structures: All accessory structures, including detached garages, fences and walls, shall be maintained structurally sound and in good repair.
Swimming Pools: Swimming pools shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
Motor Vehicles: Except as provided for in other regulations, no inoperable or unlicensed motor vehicle shall be parked, kept or stored on any premises, and no vehicle shall at any time be in a state of major disassembly, disrepair, or in a process of being stripped.
Exterior structure: The exterior of a structure shall be maintained in good repair, structurally sound, and sanitary, so as not to pose a threat to the public health, safety or welfare.
Animals: No owner/ guardian of a domestic animal shall permit the animal to run at large beyond the boundaries of the private premises of the owner or guardian. No domestic animal shall be permitted upon any public streets or public property within the Borough unless restrained by a leash not to exceed six (6) feet in length and accompanied by an adult or minor capable of controlling said animal.
- Every dog within the Borough must have a current dog license issued by the County of Allegheny and shall be vaccinated against rabies in accordance with the Rabies Prevention and Control in Domestic Animals Wildlife Act (3 P.S. subsection 445.1 se seq.)
